Football betting tips for Schalke – Augsburg

A week after their heavy defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr derby, Schalke 04 host Augsburg at the Veltins Arena in a first home game in the Bundesliga since the break. This is a fixture from the 27th round of the league. Let’s preview it in our football betting tips this weekend.

Schalke 04 didn’t return on the pitch in the best way possible after two months break. The Royal Blues faced their rivals Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park, but got dominated and lost with 0-4. Because of this loss Schalke 04 lost their 6th place in the league and now they are 8th with 37 points. They still have chances to qualify for Europe, though.

French defender Jean-Clair Todibo is missing this game because of injury. The 20-years old, who is loaned from Barcelona, got injured in the first half against Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr derby. Everybody else is healthy and ready to be picked by David Wagner.

Augsburg also lost their return game last week. This was a debut for the club’s new manager Heiko Herrlich, but Augsburg suffered a 1-2 loss at home against Wolfsburg. The Croatian centre back Tin Jedvaj scored for the hosts, but the Wolves scored one more and secured the win.

After this loss Augsburg remained 14th in the Bundesliga standings with 27 points. They must be careful now because 16th Fortuna Dusseldorf are just four points behind. Against Schalke Augsburg will be without the services of Andre Hahn, Fabian Giefer and Simon Asta, who are injured
