Wolverhampton Wanderers host Southampton in a game from the 9th round

Wolverhampton Wanderers host Southampton in a game from the 9th round of the English Premier League. In our English Premier League predictions we will try to take a good look at this fixture at the Molineux Stadium.

There’s no doubt that Wolves’ mood at the moment is pretty good after the surpising 2-0 win they achieved over Manchester City before the international break. Just ten minutes before the end it was a 0-0 at the Etihad, but Wolverhampton used their pace on counter-attack. Adama Traore got twice on scoring positions and put the ball behind Ederson, causing City their first home defeat for the campaign.

After this win, Wolverhampton Wanderers are now 11th in the standings with 10 points won so far. Nuno Santo’s boys had a slow start of the season, but in their last two games they achieved two wins, which shows their improvement at the moment. Last season was great for Wolves, so now they will aim to repeat their performance.

What about Southampton? Right now the Saints are struggling, being 17th in the league with 7 points and just one position above the relegation zone. Southampton are not in their best shape, losing three times in a row before the break. Can they step it up on Saturday at the Molineux?

In the previous round Ralph Hassenhuttl’s boys had a pretty bad afternoon against Chelsea at the St. Mary’s. The game ended with a 1-4 win for Chelsea, with Danny Ings scoring Southampton’s only goal in the game. The Saints will need to step it up, if they want to survive this season.

In our English Premier League predictions we firmly believe that Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the position of favourites against Southampton. They won against City at the Etihad in the previous round, so the confidence is with them. It’s going to be a difficult day for the Saints.
